St. Elizabeth Parish was founded in 1907 to respond to the expanding city population on the westside. From the start, the parish welcomed parishioners from many ethnic backgrounds while neighboring strong ethnic parishes. Our elementary school is as old as the parish. Our high school opened in 1940. The present church was completed in 1946. The church building itself tells the history and story of its people. Statues represent saints from Italy, Ireland, Germany and Poland. The large stained glass windows respresent saints from every part of the world. The two that face the sanctuary are saints from North and South America. Today, we gather to follow in their footsteps - holiness. Parishioners still come from the surrounding neighborhoods but many who have moved out come back for the church and community. Many associated wit our schools, also join the parish. All are welcome to be a part of our legacy and spirit.
